Travel Tip: United Explorer Card

I have never owned an airline card, until now. Here’s why:

  1. Lounge Access:

    • Card provides access to United Lounges twice a year, which is useful when Amex Lounges aren't available or when I’m not flying Delta.

  2. Business Class Upgrades**:

    • Card gives you United points, which you can use to bid for upgrades.

    • Example: 30,000 points for a lie-flat seat to/from Sydney, Australia

    • If you are only upgraded for the shorter leg of the trip, you get to keep that upgrade and all the points are still refunded to your account.

  3. Flexibility:

    • First checked bag FREE - which if you fly United even a couple times then the card will pay for itself.

    • First year was free, and you can downgrade this card at any time. Only 99$ annual fee after the first year.

**You also don’t need the United Explorer card to do this, you can transfer Amex Points or Chase Points easily into your United account.
